CAVOUR

Designed in 1959, the Cavour armchair is part of a typological family that includes two different models of chairs (1960 and 1961) and a game table (1955). With these pieces Vittorio Gregotti, Lodovico Meneghetti and Giotto Stoppino, then called "Architetti Associati", wanted to investigate the characteristics of the curved lamellar wood and to propose furniture that clearly separated from the so-called international style, in vogue at the time, recovering the values ??of domesticity and emotionality. In particular, the Cavour armchair soon became an iconic object. In March 1960 he took part in the historic exhibition "New designs for Italian furniture", at the "L'Osservatore delle Arti Industriali" in Milan, showing that he laid the foundations of the current "Neoliberty".
